She graduated from Orem High School on May 24, 1957, where she was a cheerleader and was honored as the friendliest girl in her class for three consecutive years. During her high school years, Marilyn worked at the SCERA Theater, a role she cherished. At 18, she embarked on a memorable summer adventure to Alaska, an experience she often recalled fondly. She also treasured time spent at her grandparents' ranch in Thistle, Utah.
Marilyn attended Brigham Young University, where she worked at the BYU Motion Picture Studios. After completing her education, she pursued a successful career with JAFRA Cosmetics, rising to the position of Vice President. She later contributed her talents to companies such as Sunrider Products and was owner of Candida Wellness Center.
