IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marna Sue
Kerby
April 13, 1945 – January 7, 2025
Marna Sue Kerby, born on March 13, 1945, in Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished daughter of Francis Lynn Johnson and Lucile Martin Johnson. Growing up in a lively and close-knit home, she shared countless memories with her siblings—Francis Lynn Johnson, Diane Johnson Kennedy, Sara Elaine Johnson and Loren Wayne Johnson—whom she adored throughout her life.
Marna married the love of her life, Charles Marion Kerby, on April 12, 1963. They were sealed in the Provo temple on January 10, 1981. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on love, faith, and family. Charles preceded her in death on September 16, 2023, but their nearly 60 years together were filled with devotion and joy. Their greatest pride and legacy are their five sons—Dan, Brett, Jeff, Matt, and Chris Kerby—whose childhood was full of adventures, laughter, and love, thanks to their incredible mother.
Marna's greatest passion was her family, and her favorite role was being a grandma. She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as the heart of the family. Marna never missed a birthday party, sporting event, recital, or school program. She could always be found in the stands, cheering the loudest and capturing every moment. Her grandkids often joked that she practically raised half of them as she chauffeured them to practices, appointments, and activities with her ever-present smile and endless energy.
Beyond her family, Marna was a dedicated worker who spent many years employed at the distribution center for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life, and she lived as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Marna embodied kindness and compassion, embracing everyone she met with love and without judgment. Her generosity and faithfulness left a lasting impact on her family, friends, and community.
Marna also had a lifelong passion for BYU athletics, particularly football and basketball. She was an avid fan who never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved Cougars. Watching BYU Sports Nation every morning became a cherished tradition, and if life got busy, she made sure to record it so she wouldn't miss a single moment.
Marna's life was a testament to unconditional love, faith, and resilience. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her infectious laughter, and her ability to make everyone feel special and loved. While her passing leaves a profound void, her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.
