Obituary

Marva Jean Ellis, the oldest child of Darrel and Rovilla Ellis left this life on August 6, 2021. Marva was born in Cortez, Colorado on June 17, 1956. She lived in several places (including the Republic of Turkey) as a child while her father, Darrel was in the Air Force. After the family moved to Mancos, Colorado in 1969, Marva participated in the high school band, pom-pom squad, track, and school plays. Being a conscientious student, she graduated top of her class. Marva then attended and graduated from Brigham Young University where she majored in Humanities and minored in Spanish. Her education provided her with a lifelong appreciation for music and art. Marva treasured the opportunity she had to visit Italy where she was able to see the art she had studied and loved in person. After various jobs, Marva eventually landed once again at Brigham Young University where she enjoyed working in the University Bookstore. While the Bookstore was her work, Genealogy was her passion, and she was very good at. She helped many family members, church members, friends and clients connect with their cherished loved ones beyond the veil. Marva loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and served him by faithfully fulfilling several callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She supported and cared for many people above and beyond her responsibilities in the church. After Darrel passed on, Marva was the steady hand in her mother, Rovilla's care. Marva may have been small in stature, but her huge heart overflowed with love for her fellowman. Her face always held a beautiful smile even though she was in constant pain for almost twenty years. Services will be held on Friday, August 13 at 10 am in the LDS chapel at 101 West 800 North in Provo, Utah. A graveside service in Mancos, Colorado will be held Saturday, August 14 at 10 am at the Webber Cemetery. Marva is survived by her brothers; Carl (Lisa) Ellis, Tucson, Arizona, Lyle (Lyn) Ellis, Layton, Utah, sister Marie (Wayne) Jensen, Rexburg, Idaho, her dearest friend Gayle Ann Gill and twelve nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
