Marvin Sid Allsop, 92, passed away at his Orem, Utah home on June 19, 2023 surrounded by family. The

love of his life, his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Louise Erickson Allsop, was by his side. He was a

humble man who did not seek praise, though his professional accomplishments and leadership positions

in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are many.

His happy energy seemed to be drawn from a bottomless pool which enabled him to work at his job

during the day, serve in his church callings at night and Sundays and play with his family on Saturdays. His

daily routine included exercise before work, lunch at home with his precious wife, and a precise ten

minute nap.

He was born in Lewiston, Utah, November 23, 1930 to Lew P. Allsop and Velva Dean Jamison Allsop. He

was the peacemaker, middle child of seven. He learned to love family and love work as a dairy farmer in

Trenton, Utah. He served a mission in Colorado and graduated in civil engineering from Utah State

University. He married Louise after a six week engagement on Sept. 11, 1953 in the Logan, Utah temple.

He often called her "Honey Babe".

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in Hawaii where he and Louise made one of their first

homes and attended the Laie temple almost every week.

He lived in Santa Rosa, Ca. for 26 years where he worked for the Sonoma County Water Agency, a

challenging job he loved. At age 33, he and Louise made the brave decision to move with their children

to Lahore, Pakistan where he would work for two years on national irrigation projects. He returned to

work for Marin County, then Sonoma County, but retired early at age 52. This decision enabled him to

work as a professional consultant around the world for agencies such as the Asian Development Bank,

and FEMA. Most often, Louise would join him on these trips in countries including, Nepal, Philippines,

Thailand, Burma, Pakistan, and islands in the Caribbean.

Sid thrived in these demanding work environments, but the call to serve was too strong to make work

the focus of his life. Instead, he offered his talents to the Church. After moving to Utah in 1984, he and

Louise served four full-time missions, three of which centered around his work as an engineer. Together,

they served in Hawaii, Australia, the Church Real Estate and Welfare Departments, and as Coordinators

for seniors at the MTC. His last part-time mission was to Serbia at age 80. Up until age 89, he and Louise

served in the Provo Temple.

He served as an LDS bishop twice, stake presidency counselor, stake president, mission presidency

counselor, and 18 years as a patriarch before suffering a stroke in 2016. He and Louise gave their hearts

to every calling. They dearly loved teaching the 16-17 year old Sunday school class together where they

made lasting friendships. The members of this class stopped by their home and shared life events with

them for years.

He was Vice President of the Sonoma/Mendocino Area Council of The Boy Scouts of America and also

Chapter President of the National Society of Professional Engineers in California.

Dad knew how to play and he made a conscious effort to plan recreation with his family. We went snow

skiing, to the coast, to San Francisco or to the lake, just someplace fun, nearly every week. For 40 years,

each summer included week-long water ski trips to Lake Shasta while living in Santa Rosa, or Lake Powell

after moving to Utah. He would hoop and holler as he cut around on a wooden Maharaja single ski. One

of his three boats was named "Never On Sunday". The name was prominently displayed. Each of his

children and grandchildren have fond memories watching him ski or listening to him snore as we all slept

head to toe on top of the houseboat.

Sid's testimony of Jesus Christ is apparent in the life he lived. There is no doubt that with his new,

tireless, body and a full head of dark hair, he continues to minister to family and friends in his celestial

life.

Sid is survived by his wife, Louise Erickson Allsop, children, David Sid Allsop (Karen), Jeff Edward Allsop

(Lynette), Curtis Ron Allsop (Beverly), Susan Allsop Shelton (Greg), Diane Allsop Flood (Joel),

daughter-in-law, Kaylene Allsop, brother, Richard Allsop (Cleone), 22 grandchildren: Justin, Jonathan,

Jamie, Ben, Natalie, Sid, Katey, Clay, Brittany, Yvonne, Madeline, Erick, Sean, Kent, David, Haven, Jackson,

Kyle, Leslie, Brayden, Davis, Audrey, and 30 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Douglas "L" Allsop and daughter-in-law, Brenda Wrathall Allsop, his

parents, and five siblings, Judd Allsop, Afton Godfrey, Val Allsop, Elaine Anderson, LuDean Cowley.

The service for Sid Allsop will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Lakeview 6th Ward

LDS Chapel, 2168 South 140 West, Orem. A viewing will be held Friday, June 23 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the

Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. There will also be a viewing held on

Saturday prior to the service at 9:00- 10:15 AM. The graveside service will take place at Smithfield City Cemetery on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 3:30 pm.
