Obituary

Maxine Davis Keith, 92, returned to her Father in Heaven on July 6, 2019 from complications following pneumonia. Maxine was born on March 10, 1927 in Provo, Utah to William Burdell and Flossie Belle Kitchen Davis. She was raised in Edgemont during the great depression in humble circumstances and knew the value of hard work. Maxine regularly outworked everyone around her until she was almost 90, when hip replacement surgery slowed her down a bit. She used work as her personal therapy to get through the hard times in her life—of which she had many. Her work ethic was a hallmark of her life and an enduring legacy to her posterity. Maxine attended Lincoln High School in Orem where she was president of the Tigerettes. She graduated from Lincoln High on May 17, 1945. Maxine was sealed to her eternal companion, J Allan Keith, on May 9, 1947 in the Manti, Utah Temple. Maxine & Allan went on their honeymoon in Zions National Park with a borrowed car and $14 cash. Meals consisted mostly of Spaghettios. They lived nearly their entire married life in Provo where together they raised eight children. In 1979 they moved to Elberta, Utah and lived there until Allan died in a car accident in 1984. In 1985 Maxine moved back to Orem where she could be closer to her family. She resided in Orem until her passing. Maxine always put the Lord and her family first in her life. She had a lifelong testimony of the gospel and served faithfully in many church callings including Relief Society President (four times), Stake Primary Presidency and other callings. She loved being a Primary teacher. In 1994-95, Maxine served a full-time mission to Vancouver, British Columbia where she made many friends and changed many lives. Maxine will forever be remembered for her compassion and service to everyone she met. All who knew her considered her a true friend and an example of Christ-like charity. It is impossible to count the people she served or to measure the lives she influenced. Truly, we have been honored to know her. Above all, Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the foundation and the heart of her entire family extending through multiple generations. Maxine is survived by six children, David (Melanie) Keith, Jeffrey (Brooke) Keith, Martha (David) Lewis, Penrod (Cheryl) Keith, Eric (Jennifer) Keith and Rebecca (Paul) Pixton. Her posterity also includes 35 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, all eight siblings, her husband and two children, Jay Allan (age 9) and Miriam Keith Sayer (age 59). Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Orem Orchard Stake Center located at 810 East 600 North, Orem, UT. Family and friends are invited to a viewing that morning from 9:30-10:45 AM at the chapel, or on Thursday evening, July 11 th from 6-8 PM at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home (646 East 800 North, Orem). Interment will be at Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo. We will miss you, Grandma Maxine.
