Our delightful, loving, and loved Meredith Barbara Williams passed away May 28, 2019, age 46, after an unexpected cardiac arrest. She spent her last moments, both conscious and unconscious, with beloved family members, exactly as she would have wanted.
Meredith was the sixth of seven children born to Glenn and Barbara Williams. They were her greatest friends and defenders. She was loved by siblings and nieces and nephews, whom she adored and cared for as her own children. She would often cradle a fussy infant nephew or niece and sing "Summertime" or "You Are My Sunshine" to calm them. She loved to read to them, including her adult nephew as he recovered from traumatic injuries.
Meredith was raised in Orem and completed a B.A. in Humanities at BYU. She loved a good story in any form, including books, theater, movies, and television. She regularly attended the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City. She especially enjoyed, right along with her parents, a good British comedy. In keeping with her artistic sensibilities, she studied piano and violin at various times, and enjoyed concerts, especially if family members were performing.
She found comfort and companionship with animals throughout her life, from a very brief stint with Alfred the Lop-eared Bunny to a thirteen-year companionship with her beloved cat Oscar.
She had an exceptional memory. She never forgot dates, phone numbers, and minute details of family events. We could always count on Meredith's kind attention on our birthdays and anniversaries.
Meredith had a pure, profound faith in the healing and comforting power of the priesthood, and an unwavering testimony of the gospel as restored in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a full-time missionary in the South Carolina, Columbia mission. Her last request was that her loved brother-in-law John give her a priesthood blessing.
When she passed away she was joyfully greeted by her parents, Glenn and Barbara Williams, and survived in mortality by her siblings, Clayton, Kendra, Heather, Glenn, Terrol, and Austin, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
A viewing will take place at 9:30am on Monday, June 3 in the Vermont Chapel, 400 E 400 N in Orem, Utah with funeral services following at 11:00am. Meredith will then be interred in the Orem City Cemetery.
We love and miss you, Meredith. You have blessed countless lives. Always remember, "We'll see in heaven!" You'll set us straight when we get there.
