Obituary

Merle Yearsley Craig passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Merle was born in San Francisco, California but moved to Utah county at a young age where she was raised in the Provo/Orem area. She graduated from Orem High School in 1960 where she participated in Student Council and danced for the Tigerettes.

After high school, Merle graduated from cosmetology school and spent several years as a hair stylist working from her parent's home basement. She loved to pamper and provide care to her friends and family.

Merle married the love of her life, Paul Craig in the Salt Lake Temple on February 26, 1965. Together they adopted their three sons: Nathan, Lance, and Jared. As their boys grew up, Merle's radiance and warm presence made their home the place to be for family and friends. She lived to serve others and developed a reputation for being the fun Mom in the neighborhood.

As part of her life of service, Merle was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America and held the position of Den Mother for several years. She was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she held several callings and served as the Stake Relief Society President. No matter the circumstance or subject, Merle lived to help others.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul Craig and their sons Nathan Craig (Holly) and Jared Craig (Bonnie). She was a proud grandma to Shelby, Coleman (Amber), Cascade, Tye Leigh, Mya, Caitli (Gabe), Brytnee (Ammon), Elise, Paisley and 5 great grandchildren. Merle has been reunited with her parents Nathan Dale and Audine Yearsley, sister Janet Benson, and her middle son Lance.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the tender care provided to Merle by Davita Dialysis for the last several years.
