Obituary

Nancy H. Stauffer Haag. Beloved Wife, Mother Grandmother and Great Grandmother Born Sept. 07,1942 returned peacefully home to her Father in Heaven surrounded by family on May 20, 2022. Nancy was born in Buffalo New York to Helen Baldwin Stauffer and Paul Hoyt Stauffer. She was raised by her grandparents from the age of 2 yrs old to 7 yrs old in New York. She than returned home to her family in San Diego CA. where she grew up. Growing up Mom loved playing in the canyon behind her home with her dog Boots and her best friend Cleo. She love playing sports mostly Basket ball, she was the captain of her team. Mom stood 5' 2" but she could shoot hoops, and was the fastest runner at school. Her love for animals was great, mostly dogs and horses, in her youth she worked at the horse stables so she could earn time to ride the horses at the end of the day. She attended High School at Kearney High, San Diego. Mom met the love of her life at the age of 14, Jim Haag. He was stationed in San Diego, in the US. Navy. Jim`s sister lived next door to Mom. They were married June 13,1959. she was 16 and he was 21, they had three children, Cindy, James, and Terri. Mom loved being a Mother more than anything in this life. Her hobbies were AKC dog breeding, showing and grooming dogs. She and Dad, bread dogs together. They had Champion Cocker Spaniels, and cofounded "The American Cocker Spaniel Club of San Diego" . They were nominated the top AKC breeders in the nation. She went on later in life to breed Chihuahuas, as a result of her love of breeding dogs she acquired many dear friends, who loved her deeply. She was an amazing friend and counselor to all who knew her. She also loved to read, and use her gifts and talents making crafts. One of her favorites was making and sharing her beautiful hand made cards with others, which bought them so much joy. Mom moved to Oregon in 1993 when Dad retired. She built a new life there filled with wonderful friends and great experiences. Mom became widowed in 2012. In November of 2021, she wanted to live closer to family so Mom moved to live with her daughter Cindy, and grandchildren, in Provo, Utah. She enjoyed living and spending time with them. She loved telling them stories about her life. Mom was in awe of the beauty that surrounded her and found such joy living on the bench of the mountain, she loved watching the sunsets on the lake and seeing the city lights at night. Mom had a wonderful love for life. She lived in gratitude always. She was loved by all who knew her. Mom's greatest joy was her children and family. She was LDS and loved the Lord. Nancy is proceeded in death by her husband, James L. Haag and granddaughter Julianna C. Slane Nancy is survived by her three children and their spouses,- Cynthia Clayton, James Haag, and Terri Seeley - Steve Clayton, Lisa Haag and Roger Seeley. Elven grandchildren - Michael Newquist, Richard Newquist, Jennifer McCowen, Daniel Slane, and Leonna Slane. Jason Haag, and Kelly Haag. Roger Seeley, Kenneth Seeley, Kimberly Seeley, and Steven Seeley. Lee Ann Newquist, Lisa Seeleyand Connor Thompson. Four Great Grandchildren - Teya Newquist and Shayla Newquist, Rosalie Seeley and Genevieve Seeley. Siblings - Katie Stauffer and Edward LaDuke. Mom you will always be in our hearts. Thank you for your loving example and being our Mom. We are grateful for all the love and care Mom had been given by her, family, friends, doctors and nurses.
