Obituary

Nancy Vaieland said goodbye to friends and family in the early morning hours of October 15, 2025. She was born January 3, in Provo, Utah, to George Vaieland and Lena Antell Vaieland Lund. Nancy was the youngest of three children.

With Nancy's arrival came a number of uncertainties, but no matter the size of each challenge Nancy met them head on with tenacity and humor. Her ability to turn the heaviest of circumstances into a party will be sorely missed.

"Fancy Nancy" attended Canyon Crest Elementary, Farrer Junior High, and graduated from Timpview High School where she thrived in the peer tutoring classes, cultivated a love for reading, managed the girls' soccer team (even though her contribution was painting the nails of each player), and collected as many friends as she could possibly find.

After graduation Nancy worked in the cafeteria at the Provo Missionary Training Center. She would return from a shift elated to talk about how she helped, but mostly to share the news that she made new friends.

As a preschool aid, Nancy patiently calmed students and saw them as her friends. Her favorite job was working as a hostess at the Cougar Eat at BYU. Nancy turned the mundane task of wiping tables into a chance to socialize. Fancy Nancy was an embodiment of love and was able to see people for who they truly were. To know Nancy was to be loved by Nancy.

Fancy Nancy loved to dance especially when she had an audience. She would kick and twirl all leading to a finale of the splits. Whenever and wherever she could dance, she did. She danced in a high school talent show, for education classes at BYU, in the living room, and at dinner. Nancy's dancing was often accompanied by the music of Taylor Swift, Brooks and Dunn, and the Spice Girls. When not dancing Nancy could be found reading or enjoying her favorite shows The Golden Girls and Friends.

Nancy is survived by her father George Vaieland, mother Lena (Gerald) Lund, brother Jon (Natalie) Vaieland, sister Jo (James) Ivie, and innumerable beloved friends.

A viewing for Nancy will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 25th and funeral services held at noon. Both will be held at The Lindon Utah Central Stake Center, 56 E 600 N St., Lindon, Utah. Interment will follow at the Highland City Cemetery, 6200 W 11000 N, Highland, Utah. We invite all to attend. Wear something pink in honor of Nancy if you like.

We would like to sincerely and gratefully thank Nancy's caretakers at Chrysalis. They served Nancy with compassion and dignity.

While we mourn the loss of our Fancy Nancy, we continue to celebrate the tenderness, love, and sparkle she contributed to each of our lives.
