Naomi Anastasia Watson, age 22, was born August 23, 1997 in Donetsk, Ukraine and passed away on May 14, 2020 in Rexburg, Idaho after a life-long struggle. Naomi was adopted when she was two years old. She grew up in South Korea, Baldwinsville New York, Kerkrade Netherlands, Montclair Virginia, and Mapleton, Orem and Spanish Fork Utah.
She graduated with a home-school diploma and attended American Leadership Academy and Maeser Preparatory Academy where she played on the school Quidditch and soccer teams. Naomi attended Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg where she studied therapeutic recreation.
Naomi loves all animals, particularly her emotional support cat, Samantha, whom she taught to walk on a leash and sit on command. She enjoyed going to the park and often brought her cat with her. She has a talent for finding beauty and capturing it through photography and art. She excelled at math, soccer, and violin. She studied French and loves Paris. She is an avid Harry Potter fan and is interested in all things related to law enforcement, particularly working dogs. She is funny, compassionate, loves life, and has an especially contagious laugh.
She leaves behind her parents, Rebecca and Alan Leach, as well as five siblings: Rachel Free, Elizabeth Miller, Joshua Watson, Bethany Heath, and Peter Watson.
A memorial gathering will be held in her honor at Orchard Park (Foothill Park, 1011 N. 1240 E. Orem UT), one of Naomi's favorite parks, on Thursday, May 21 from 6-8pm.
