Obituary

Nathaniel Rey Johnson, affectionately known as "N8 the Great," passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the age of 40, surrounded by his loving sisters and his best friend, Preston.

Born on August 20, 1984, in Provo, Utah, to Kelly and Gloria Johnson, Nathan was the fourth of five children. With his curly blonde hair, warm brown eyes, charming dimples, and sprinkle of freckles, he was a true "mama's boy" and undeniably the favorite.

Nathan attended Pleasant Grove High School, graduating in 2003. He had a natural talent for athletics, excelling at any sport he played. He found joy in video games, where he could immerse himself in new worlds, as well as in nature, where he embraced the beauty of the outside world, whether it was camping, hiking, fishing, or snowboarding. But above all, Nathan cherished his family and spending time together. His 10 nieces and nephews were his favorite people. He never missed a birthday or a soccer game.

Nathan faced many challenges in his life, with the hardest being the loss of his only brother when he was just 13 years old. He found comfort in his family and the meaningful connections he built with those around him.

In his late 20s, Nathan was diagnosed with chronic leukemia, which later progressed to acute leukemia. He faced this cancer with unwavering courage, undergoing a bone marrow transplant in 2022—just 18 months after losing his mother to the same illness.

Though the road was difficult, he never lost his sense of humor or his sharp mind. A natural jokester, he had a gift for making people smile even in the toughest times.

Nathan asked for nothing and gave everything. He was loved by all who knew him. His childhood friends stood by his side through every season of his life, offering unwavering support until the very end. He was very grateful to those who visited him and spent time with him over the past couple of years, bringing comfort and companionship when he needed it most. Thank You.

His family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the incredible nursing staff at Sandstone (now Monument Health) in American Fork.

Nathan is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Mikkelson Johnson; father Kelly Clark Johnson; brother, Jeffrey Clark Johnson; cousin, Ashley Hansen, and his grandparents on both sides. Nathan's memory will live on through his surviving siblings, nieces and nephews, and all those who were blessed to know him. His love, humor, and strength will continue to inspire and uplift those who carry his legacy forward.

A celebration of Nathan's life will be held on March 23, 2025, at Wadley Farms in Lindon. This special evening will honor his memory, sharing stories of love and laughter. Due to space considerations, this will be a private, invitation-only event.

We love you N8 the Great. Your kindness and light will shine on forever.
