Neldon George Boren passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Neldon was born on August 4, 1937. He was the fifth of eight children born to Eldwin and Murran Boren. He attended BYU High School before joining the army to serve his country. He served a mission to San Francisco, California from 1959-1961 and was an active member of the LDS church his entire life. He was sealed to the love of his life, Tamara Johnson Boren, in the Salt Lake Temple in 1962. They were blessed with six daughters and two sons.
He served in the Utah National Guard for many years and was a paratrooper and a green beret. His family has many fond memories of watching him jumping out of airplanes. He retired after many years of working for the United States Postal Service. Neldon was an avid BYU sports fan! He had season tickets to both football and basketball for more than fifty years. He loved his family and could often be found spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Neldon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Tamara Johnson Boren, his parents: Eldwin and Murran Lockhart Boren, brothers: Lenn and Gordon Boren, and sister, Naomi Boren Larsen. He is survived by his eight children: Sydna (Richard) Zilm, Heather Judd, Fawn (Nathan) Murray, Jennifer Boren, Heidi (John) Lisonbee, Gail Boren, Bryan (Mandy) Boren, and Andrew Boren, twelve grandchildren: Amberzina (Paul) Megeath, Richard Eric Zilm, Amanda (Ben) Friis, Colton Judd, Robert (Ashley) Zilm, Roland (Katrina) Zilm, Austin (Aubrey) Murray, Braxton (Brooke) Lisonbee, Elma (Mitch) Stapley, Grace Boren, George Boren, and Garrett Boren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Jeanette Allman and Innis Brown.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 19, 2021, at the LDS Stake Center, 481 E. Center Street, Orem, UT 84097 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at the same location from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment to follow at Orem Cemetery, 1520 N 800 E, Orem, UT 84097.
