Obituary

Nora Ellen Lemmon from Provo, Utah was born on April 7, 1950 in Price, Utah to Glenn William Lemmon and Thelma Alminda Heath. She lived in Green River, Utah until the age of 8 when she moved to the American Fork Training School in American Fork, Utah. She lived at the training school for nearly 20 years and in 1977 she moved to a community group home in Provo, Utah. In 1980 Howie and Sharon Nelson became house-parents of Nora's group home. Nora enjoyed the group home program. She worked at CUE, attended RAH weekly, went to night school, and bowled on the weekends. She made friends wherever she went. As Howie and Sharon's family grew they were ready to leave the group home and decided to bring three women to live with them. Nora, Nila Skinner, and Konnalee Cassity spent over 37 years in the Nelson home together. Nora was a natural leader among the three. She lovingly kept them in line. They looked to here for cues on what comes next, how to react, and what to do. Nora also offered love and support to Howie and Sharon in raising their children. She truly became a part of the family. She would soothe the babies, tend to their needs, cook, clean, and attended nearly all the family events. Nora was constantly crafting and making jewelry and key chains to give away to her foster sisters and friends. Nora looked forward to visiting her family in Green River regularly for the famous Green River Melon Days in addition to Christmas and other occasions. Nora made meaningful contributions to her community though her work. Some of the places she worked were Central Utah Enterprises, Fawn Whitney Catering, Chuck A Rama, BYU Dining Services, and Valley Personnel Services at the Provo MTC. Nora faithfully attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1992, she met with missionaries from the church and was baptized by Howie Nelson. Later she was sealed to her parents in the Provo Temple. Nora completed her YW Recognition and many years of Seminary. She helped in Relief Society by setting up chairs, putting out hymn books, passing out programs, and most recently, Primary Assistant. Nora is survived by her mother Thelma Lemmon (90), sister Glenna Brown, nephew Jimmy Brown and niece Debbie Pusbach. She is also survived by her grandnephews and grandnieces Ben, Nathaniel and Kenzie Brown, and Ian Pusbach and Ada Wiseman. She was preceded in death by her twin brothers James William and John Leo as well as her sister Alice Marie, brother in law Leonard Brown, and nephew Steven Brown. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Grandview Stake Center at 1880 W 1600 N, Provo. Family and friends may visit before the service from 9:00 a.m-9:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Green River Utah.
