On March 16, 2018, Paul Alexander Gibson, 43, returned to the loving arms of his grandparents after losing his battle with depression and alcoholism. Paul was born in Torrance, California, on October 13, 1974, to parents Keith Dale Gibson and Donna Kenyon Gibson (Smith). He grew up in San Diego, California, San Antonio, Texas, and permanently moved to Utah in 1986 with his mother and sister. He graduated from Orem High School in 1993 and went on to have a career in the computer technology industry, primarily specializing in software development quality control. In October, 2013, Paul met the love of his life, Michelle MacPherson Leavitt, while playing an online game of Song Pop. They met in person shortly after and were married on March 29, 2014, in Provo, Utah. Paul loved rock music especially from the 1970's and 1980's. He deeply loved his family and was an extremely sensitive soul. He had a wonderful sense of humor and tried to comfort and protect those around him even as he struggled with his internal challenges. Paul and his wife, Michelle, especially loved to travel and go on spur of the moment day trips to different parts of Utah and Wyoming. Paul is survived by his wife, Michelle, his father, Keith Gibson of San Antonio, Texas, his mother, Donna Smith, of Orem, Utah, his sister, Christine Gibson (Kristopher) Orton of Eagle Mountain, Utah, stepson, Gregory (Amber) Leavitt of Orem, Utah, nephews, Jay, Christian, Chase, and Ryker Orton, and niece, MacKenzie Orton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Utah, California, and New Jersey. Per his wish, Paul will be cremated and returned to an area of Utah where he and Michelle created their happiest memories. Plans are pending for a later memorial service. We would cordially like to thank the hospital staff at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and the U of U Hospital in Salt Lake City for their sensitive assistance and capable care of Paul during his final hours.
