IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul S
Groesbeck
November 13, 1926 – November 9, 2023
Paul S. Groesbeck passed away on November 9th, 2023 in Orem, Utah at the age of 96. He was born November 13, 1926 in American Fork, Utah to Hyrum Groesbeck Jr. and Lue Emma Stephenson Groesbeck. He was the youngest of six children consisting of Lue S, Emma S, her twin who died at birth, Mac S, Byron S and Leslie S. He grew up on the Highland bench, north of American Fork and attended school there until the end of his sophomore year when he and his mother moved to Holden to care for his Grandmother.
He finished his high school years at Millard High in Fillmore Utah. He was active in all sports but especially loved football and was the center on the varsity team. He attended college at BAC in Cedar City for two years where he studied Botany and played on the college Varsity football team. In the spring of 1947 Paul started dating Beverly Davies of Fillmore. He followed her to Logan where she was attending Utah State and the two were married November 19, 1948 in the Manti Temple.
He worked for Utah Power and Light at the Terminal Substation west of Salt Lake City. From there they moved to Ashton, Idaho in 1953 where he was the Maintenance Forman for the Ashton Power plant on the Snake River. In the Fall of 1964, he transferred to the Sigurd substation near Richfield , Utah where he worked as a dispatcher. He took early retirement from the power company in 1983. He worked every day after that mostly doing some kind of carpentry or building project and did an excellent job at whatever he put his hand to. One project we cherish most was the 22 cedar chests he built for all of his daughters and granddaughters. He has filled many Ward and Stake church callings with honor and integrity, including Bishop, High Councilor, Finance Clerk, and Ward Mission Leader. He served a mission with his wife in Cove Fort and served in the Manti Temple for many years.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings, his wife Beverly, his children, Eugene Groesbeck, Mary Holden, Nathan Groesbeck, his grand-daughter in-law, Dee Groesbeck and his great granddaughter Jenivee June Clawson. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Michael and Karen Groesbeck (Rexburg ID), Marcia and John Kezele (Preston ID), Paul Holden (Providence UT), Karen Wilde Groesbeck (Fillmore UT), Glenn and Paula Groesbeck (Alpine UT), Timothy and Paulene Clawson (Orem UT), Sid and Lisa Lewis (Malad ID), Tom and Gaylene Hooker (St George UT) and Ben and Carol Groesbeck (Pleasant Grove UT), his 35 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
