Pauleen Crandall Clayton lived a life full of love, faith, and service. She was born on November 23, 1933, in Provo, Utah, to Amanda Lawrence and Paul Gregory Crandall. Pauleen grew up in Provo and Orem, where she attended Joaquin Elementary and Farrer Junior High before graduating from Lincoln High School in 1952. After high school, Pauleen attended Utah State University in Logan.

Pauleen and Conway Clayton picked their friendship back up while working together at the phone company, and on February 17, 1956, she married the love of her life. Together they built a beautiful life and a family full of love. They were blessed with six children: Connie (Rod) Parker, Bruce (Sheila) Clayton, Bryce (Corinne) Clayton, Kathy (Russ) Jensen, Brent (Tammy) Clayton, and Brad Clayton. That family has grown to include 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of her with them.

Pauleen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made time for every one of them, stayed interested in their lives, and always found a thoughtful way to show she cared. She dedicated years of service as a literacy specialist in Alpine district teaching countless children to read.Pauleen had a gift for making people feel loved, remembered, and welcomed. Nobody ever left her home hungry. There was always something to eat or a treat waiting, and that was just one more way she said "I love you."

She loved a party and found every excuse to gather family and friends together. Even in her final days, she was thinking of others. She asked her family to set out a treat jar so her grandchildren and visitors would have something to enjoy when they came to visit. That small request said so much about how she lived: thoughtful, generous, and always ready to welcome everyone.

Pauleen showed the pure love of Christ through a lifetime of serving others. She was always thinking of someone else and looking for ways to help. Pauleen spent countless hours on quilts and sewing projects. She never forgot a birthday. Pauleen always sent handmade personalized cards and letters so people knew she was thinking of them. These will be treasured forever! With her kindness and beautiful countenance, Pauleen scattered sunshine everywhere she went.

As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pauleen served in many callings in her wards over the years. She and Conway also served several missions together, at the Conference Center, the St. George Historic Sites, and the Heber Valley Camp. Pauleen lived by the motto, "Have I done any good in the world today? Have I helped anyone in need?" Her life was a quiet, joyful answer.

Pauleen passed away on September 29, 2026, in Springville, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. Pauleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Conway; her parents Paul and Amanda; her sisters, Colleen Crandall and Bernice Crandall Dane; her brother, Lars Crandall; and her grandson Zeke Jensen. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, selfless service, and a warm spirit that made every person feel deeply loved.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 481 E Center Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.
