On February 27, 2020 our sweet dad, grandpa, and great grandpa, Ralph Henry Horne, passed
away at the age of 92, surrounded by his family. He was born in Salina, UT to Horace and
Charlotte Gates Horne on June 3, 1927. He married his high school sweetheart, Georgia
LaRae Payne and together they had 7 children.
As a young man, Ralph joined the United States Navy and served in World War 2. Once he
completed his service in the Navy, he started on a path of education. After many years he
received his Master's Degree, which he was very proud of.
He loved working as an Extension Agent through Utah State University, coordinating 4-H
programs in a number of counties in Utah. Part of his 29 year career was spent supervising
these programs, as well as working closely with the farmers throughout the state.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many
capacities, including 5 years as a temple worker in the Provo, Utah Temple.
He leaves behind 7 children Conda Rae (Mike) Todd, Rulon (Nancy) Horne, Daryl (Elaine)
Horne, Helen (Mark) Murray, Sharon (Lynn) Hales, Janna (Randy) Sorensen, Ralph Vernon
(partner Jana) Horne. He also left quite a posterity that he was very proud of including 26
grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by
his dear sweetheart, Georgia LaRae, 2 sisters, Elaine Allred and Evelyn Braithwaite, and 1
grandson, Cameron Quin Horne.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the Orem 1st Ward Chapel, 80
South 280 East, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church Wednesday morning at 11:30
a.m. with the funeral to follow, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Orem City
Cemetery. Military honors will be performed. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.walkersanderson.com
