Randall James "Randy" Saliby

September 8, 1949-September 19,2026

Randall James Saliby, lovingly known as Randy, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2026,encircled in the arms and love of his family.

Randy was born on September 8, 1949, to John and Kathleen Saliby in Endicott, New York. At age 13, Randy embraced the gospel and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After high school, Randy served a faithful mission, a foundational experience that blessed his life and anchored his unwavering faith for more than five decades.

Upon returning, Randy attended Brigham Young University, where he met his sweetheart, Patricia "Patty" Saliby. They were married for time and all eternity on December 18, 1973, in the Provo LDS Temple.

Together, Randy and Pat built a beautiful life and raised 8 children – five daughters and three sons. They started their lives in Umatilla, Oregon where Randy spent his career teaching high school physical education and drivers ed. He enjoyed coaching basketball, tennis, refereeing volleyball and working on the chain crew for the football games. He loved sports and was a true team player who led his family and students with intentional love and, by his example.

Randy returned to Utah where he sold real estate and later worked at the county assessor's office. He remained a faithful, active member of the Church, serving selflessly in bishoprics, on High Councils, and later had the joy of serving alongside Pat at the Palmyra- Hill Cumorah Mission and Heber Valley Camp Mission.

He shared his Christlike love in gentle, unassuming ways, and was known for a wonderful sense of humor that brought light and joy to everyone around him.

Few things brought him greater joy than his family. He made it a top priority to support his grandkids in anything and everything they were involved in. He loved sitting on his front porch interacting with neighbors young and old and enjoying summer days with his family on the boat.

Randy was a peaceful warrior full of tenacity, dedication, and had an inspiring commitment to resourcefulness.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathleen Saliby and his sisters Cyndi and Martha and sister-in-law Toni.

His love and legacy live on through his sweetheart Pat; his eight  children, Jennifer (Mike) Keith, Nick (Julie) Saliby, Joe (Ginni) Saliby, Melissa (Camren) Bird, Kristen (Jared) Tucker, Stephanie (Austin) Mills, Jessica Haymond, and Matthew Saliby; and his brothers Johnny and Steve; along with 28 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Those who loved Randy will forever miss his great "dad jokes," legendary dance moves, and his wonderful laugh and smile, and the unmistakable warmth he brought into their lives.

Above all, Randy leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, sacrifice, humor and love-a legacy that will continue through the generations of the family he treasured so deeply.

Memorial Services

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the LDS Church located at 726 E 1200 N, Orem, UT 84097.
