Rebekah Joy Magill, daughter of Shawn Patrick Magill and Autumn Snow Tannehill Magill was born November 7, 2008 at Timpanogos Hospital in Orem, Utah. She and her family lived in Saratoga Springs, Utah until she was four years old and then moved with them to Pleasant Grove, Utah. That same year she was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma and began aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Rebekah delighted in simple pleasures like snowdrifts, warm sunshine, rainbows, flowers, butterflies, dancing, and singing. Her favorite pastimes were crafting, cooking, playing games with her brothers, visiting her friends and trampoline jumping. She expressed her love liberally with kisses and hugs and gifts she made herself. She especially loved purple and pink, Hello Kitty, Barbie movies, Disney princess movies, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and Jem and the Holograms. Rebekah was invincibly happy in the face of overwhelming difficulties with her health. Chemotherapy, radiation, endless needles and sickening medicine became common occurrences, but she learned to endure them and resume taking big bites from life. Rebekah and her mother cultivated a network of friends and charity relationships who helped Rebekah experience a trip to DisneyWorld, getting an honorary degree from Salt Lake Community College, visiting eastern Caribbean islands on a cruise, and paragliding. Rebekah's disease relapsed in March of 2016. Her team of skilled doctors devised an unconventional treatment program that staved off her disease progression for almost a year. With her mother and father each holding a hand, Rebekah passed away peacefully on the morning of September 5, 2017. She was eight years old. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 9, 2017, 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may visit at the church Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. or Saturday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
