Obituary

Reginald A. Paul, a resident of Fermathe, Haiti, died unexpectedly on June 27, 2018 at the age of 42 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, subsequent to a violent attack in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Reginald is survived by his father, Alexandre Paul, his daughter, Michaelle Leandre Paul, his sisters, Alexandra Paul and Valerie Paul; his brother Gregoire Gilbert Paul; and his grandmother, Emilie Berrouet. He is predeceased by his mother, Colombe Helen Paul; his daughter, Anne Danielle Paul; his brother, Jean Richard Paul; his grandparents, Antoine Paul & Lydia Dieudonné Paul; and his grandfather, Valentin A. Berrouet. Reginald was born in Nassau, Bahamas on January 16, 1976 to Colombe Helen Paul and Alexandre Paul. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and University Quisqueya in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He served an LDS mission in Haiti. On November 15, 2004, he welcomed his daughter, who was one of the most important parts of his life. He was an entrepreneur, who had several businesses (real estate, water, and produce, among others). He worked at Union School in Haiti, where he taught English and worked to organize activities and after-school programs, where he met his long-time girlfriend, Cassandra Chéry. Reginald had a voracious appetite for life and was known to be fearless. He enjoyed reading, video games, good food, cooking, and motorcycles. One of the words that most defined Reginald was lovable. He loved to be surrounded by people. He was kind to everyone, from all walks of life, frequently letting people stay at his home rent-free in times of need and giving freely of his time and possessions without a second thought. He was devoted to caring for others and cared deeply about his country. He served on the board of several political and charity organizations throughout his life and was always happy to speak about ways to improve the lives of others around him. He went out of his way to make every person that he met feel special and valued. He was a spiritual man and thought deeply about the purpose and meaning of life. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on July 6 th at the Pleasant View Fifth Ward at 2400 North 1060 East, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may visit prior to the services from 12:45 – 1:45 pm. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah.  Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.walkersanderson.com.
