IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Renee Taylor
Earl
July 15, 1930 – July 1, 2022
Renee Taylor Earl passed peacefully away at her home in Orem, Utah on July 1, 2022, just two weeks prior to her 92nd birthday. She was born July 15, 1930 in Salem, Utah, to Roy Thomas and Annie Hortense Nelson Taylor, the third of four beloved children. Renee adored her parents, her older sisters Lu and Ilene, and her baby brother Nelson; she learned the value of family, work, worship, and service in her happy childhood home. During her junior and senior years of high school, she worked in an ice cream shop in Provo where she met her future husband, Charles Huish (Chuck) Earl. After graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1948, Renee moved to Provo where she attended BYU and worked part time as a secretary for the university's athletic department.
On June 14, 1950, Renee and Chuck were married in the Salt Lake Temple; he was subsequently called to serve a mission in Eastern Canada for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While Chuck was on his mission, Renee lived in Provo with her parents, continued her work and schooling at BYU, and gave birth to her oldest son. After Chuck returned, they welcomed four more children into their family, and Renee dedicated herself to serving her family and her church congregation. She served in many church organizations including Sunday School, MIA, Primary, and Relief Society; and served her family through her talents in cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. Her descendants have happy memories of the many things she created: especially her brownies, her cookies, and her whole wheat bread.
After her husband died in 1977, Renee returned to school, graduated from Utah Technical College, and worked as a secretary at Orem Junior High School, all the while continuing her service to her children and the grandchildren being added to the family. Later she served two part-time service missions for The Church including transcribing documents for the Nauvoo Data Bank Mission and welcoming visitors as a hostess-missionary at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. Until the end of her life, Renee enjoyed family outings, visits, reunions, Christmas parties, and General Conference dinners. She attended countless baptisms, blessings, weddings, temple ceremonies, and missionary farewells, and sent thousands of birthday and anniversary cards to her family members. Until we are reunited in Heaven, Renee (Mother, Mom, Grandma, Grandma Great, Aunt Renee) will be greatly missed.
Renee is survived by her sister-in-law Dawn Pratt Taylor of Salem; her children: Robert (Debbie) Earl of Orem, Bruce (Koral) Earl of Lindon, Larayne (Steve) Jensen of Oregon, Doug (Cheryl) Earl of Orem, and Michael Earl of Cedar Hills; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. Renee was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Thomas and Annie Hortense Nelson Taylor; her sisters, Lucy Taylor (Reed) Cornaby and Ilene Taylor (Ross) Swenson; and her brother, Nelson Roy Taylor. The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the many caregivers at Summerfield Retirement and from iCare Home Health and Hospice who cared for Renee with loving kindness and empathy.
