Rhonda Crabtree 1977-2020 Rhonda Leigh (Donahoo) Crabtree passed quietly into heaven at the age of 46 on June 5th, 2020, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The indomitable spirit with which she approached life both before and after her diagnosis is a testament to her will to sacrifice all for the wellbeing and happiness of her family, including her husband of 26 years Chris, and her six children Ashleigh, Katie, James, Austin, Cameron, and Jacob. Personal time and gift-giving were her love languages, and she ensured an overabundance for each child, friend, and neighbor as anyone can attest who has had a chance to cross her path. Always up for a challenge, and with a notepad full of goals to accomplish, places to visit, and experiences to create, she embodied and instilled in her children the spirit of "oh the places you'll go", "relationships matter most", "experiences over things", and other personal slogans written permanently in their hearts, using her unique and beautiful handwriting. Rhonda was born in San Diego, California, on October 31st, 1973, to James and Roberta (Mcquillan) Donahoo, her mother preceding her in death. She has an older sister Robyn, who also preceded her in death at a young age, and a younger brother Jimmy, with whom she shared the closest of relationships. She also has great love and admiration for her step-mother JoElle, and her two step-brothers Tyler and Eric Kerwin. In San Diego, she enjoyed several sports in her youth like swimming, and was known for her graceful backstroke. She attended Patrick Henry High School, where she gained a love for photography as part of the yearbook and key clubs. During her senior year, her family moved to the small Northern California town of Paradise, the home of her future husband Chris, and a place where she forged some of her most cherished life-long friendships. While attending college in Utah, she and Chris were married on August 13th, 1994, in the Oakland, California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For six years, she worked and studied along Chris's side to help support him through school, intending to work in the field of dentistry like her father. However, with the birth of her first daughter, Ashleigh, her real work and passion were expressed through the course of raising her six children. Rhonda was always eager to celebrate the happy times surrounding holidays and unique accomplishments, no matter how great or small, you could count on these times to be filled with joyful decor, intricately arranged food platters, and details that ensured bright smiles and memorable photos. She held her children to high expectations, laying the foundation for long-term goal-setting, good education, and a love for the gospel set by her example. Family time was most important, and creating spaces in between the winding gears of busy life for experiences like riding Pirates at Disneyland, fishing at the cabin in Idaho, wiggling little toes in white sandy beaches, or hiking the forested paths around Mirror Lake, were the things experienced together with her family that brought her real joy. Perhaps the most memorable gift she left us was a new and remarkable sense of wanderlust. In 2017, the seed of an idea she planted long before, grew into an unforgettable year-long journey of courage around the world with her family. Through 22 countries, she carefully orchestrated the education and sequence of experiences that would lead them to hike majestic valleys between misty mountains, cross sapphire-colored rivers, explore prehistoric moss-strewn forests, discover long-abandoned castles, play hide-and-seek in ancient Greek temples, breath the mists of mighty Icelandic waterfalls, laugh with monkeys zipping through high jungle canopies, swim with lonely sea turtles in empty blue lagoons, feast with Hobbits at the Green Dragon Inn, bathe in warm volcanic jungle rivers, stroll the reedy reflective ponds of Monett's garden, collect shells from a hundred beaches, and camp in the moonlight by the peaceful mountain lake, or the slow valley river. Experiences that endure--like a captain she guided her children, touching their lives forever, and setting a course into a future of unexplored, highly-anticipated, character-defining moments. Many have rightly wondered at the timing--as did she immediately after diagnosis. All of these events have nurtured a deeper appreciation in her for His timing, recognizing when and how to follow His gentle but soul-stretching promptings. Realizing the limits He draws between the times and seasons of our lives and a testimony of the many miracles that are made manifest only after the trial of our faith. Rhonda is a symbol of the heroic mother, molding and shaping her children with love and nurture, and like rings that ripple outward in a still pond, will echo down the generations to come. Rhonda's funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2020, at the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1051 East 200 South, in Lindon, Utah, followed by a graveside dedication and burial at the Lindon City Cemetery on 200 East, in Lindon. Following the services, there will be a reception celebrating Rhonda's life in the Crabtee's front yard at 185 North 1200 East, in Lindon, from 2 pm - 6 pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, funeral service attendance is restricted to invitation-only. Reception attendance will be limited in size by hourly groups. Services will also be broadcast via a Zoom meeting.
