Richard Martin Yocom
Loving brother, husband, father, papa, grandpa, and friend.
Richard Martin Yocom, age 79, passed away Monday May 8, 2023.
Richard was born on February 13, 1944, in Salt Lake City to Frank and Nona Davies Yocom. He was the youngest of three boys and the third generation to graduate from Granite High School in 1962. Like his father and his father's father, he played sports and led his team to win the state championship.
Through the years Richard worked hard and gave his all no matter what it was he was doing. His love and talent for cooking started while he owned a restaurant, the Hilary House, as well as owning and running a daycare, Funtime. Richard's love for helping people led him to have an active role and partnership in Topham Tiny Tots and Steps. Once he "retired" from the workforce, he started his most loved job, kids, football games, school functions, and parties.
Richard met the love of his life, Karen Topham, after several years of courtship he made Karen his forever "beautiful bride" on November 3, 1989. His family and love grew more than six times. After determination and hard work, they were sealed for all time and eternity in the LDS temple in 2009.
Richard had a love for his Heavenly Father that was unwavering throughout his life. He also had a respect and love for his big brothers, Ray and Dave. Richard enjoyed golfing, camping, cooking, and family gatherings. He was an amazingly kind human with a heart of gold. His sarcasm, jokes, laughter, and kindness will be forever missed.
