Obituary

Due to the increasing numbers of Covid-19 we are moving to a virtual memorial for Riley. Please join our group on Facebook at "Riley Jackson Nagle Celebration of Life" Sunday September 27, 2020 at 2:00PM. ____________________________________________________________________ Riley Jackson Nagle's life was cut short on September 2, 2020, in Salt Lake City. His life and the love he shared so freely with family and friends was so much brighter than his tragic end. Born May 23, 1994, Riley has always been easy to love because he so easily loved those around him. With bright eyes and a giant heart, Riley didn't simply look for the good in others—the good was all he chose to see. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend who laughed loudly, cared deeply, and gave the very best bear hugs. Raised in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains and named after one of his favorite places on earth—Jackson Hole—Riley enjoyed hiking, rock climbing, boating, camping, and time on the beach, he was always up for an adventure. While not always presented with life's easiest trails to traverse, he faced every challenge with optimism, drawing strength from his family and friends. When his loved ones called upon him for help, Riley would lean in with compassion and determination—always ready with a joke to make you laugh and never satisfied until he had helped make things better. Riley gave so much more than he dared ask for out of life. He was the kind of son that makes a parent proud: kind to everyone, honest and hardworking, his brother's best friend and his little sister's champion. We have all been made better by Riley's all-too-short time with us on earth and know he continues to watch over us from Heaven. His life was not defined by the final, senseless moments that would end it but, instead, by the light he shared with others every day—including his last. Riley is survived by his father Bret Nagle, his mother and stepfather Janna and Chris Kontgis; brother Jesse Nagle (Lexi), his adored nieces, Keira and Lidia, sister Brooke Nagle, step-sisters Andrea Kontgis, Alexis Tsikoudakis (John), and Alisha Bills; his grandma Lenore Nagle; his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas Reece, Shanna and "Papa John" Black, and Lamar Nagle. Due to the increasing numbers of Covid-19 we are moving to a virtual memorial for Riley. Please join our group on Facebook at "Riley Jackson Nagle Celebration of Life" Sunday September 27, 2020 at 2:00PM. We will reschedule a wonderful in-person celebration when it is safe for us all to be together to laugh, cry and share precious memories of this wonderful young man.
