Robert (Bob) Lowell Brown, 87, of Orem, Utah passed away peacefully Friday June 1, 2018. He was born April 15, 1931 in Lehi, Utah to Lowell Austin Brown and Thelda Edith Fagan Brown. Bob graduated from Lehi High School with valedictorian honors and served as student body president during his junior and senior years. He participated in football, basketball, and track, and also played trombone. He served the Navajo and Apache people in the Southwest Indian Mission in Arizona. After his mission he attended BYU, studying geology. He was married to Audrey Jeannine Baxter in 1953 and together had three children. He served two years as a training instructor (Corporal) in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, California. After his honorable discharge from the army, he worked at Craighead Plumbing & Heating in Provo. In 1969 he joined Geneva Steel as a pipefitter and later moved into management. He had a love of flying and earned his commercial pilot's license. Always an artist, he later attended art school at Provo Technical College and produced many oil and watercolor paintings. He was an avid hunter (including archery) and fisherman. He tied his own flies and countless more for people that came to him for their fishing flies. For many years he worked as a volunteer, along with two of his best friends, for Utah Fish & Game. Bob served in several bishoprics in Orem and at BYU. He was an ordinance worker at Timpanogos Temple and later worked as a security officer at Timpanogos Temple. He also volunteered as security personnel for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. He was a member of The American Legion Post 72 and served in several capacities including Chaplain. He thoroughly enjoyed providing their unique service to many veterans' families during his years with them. Bob had a happy smile and sparkle in his eyes that brightened those around him. He was gentle, honest, and kind. He had a sense of humor and used it to make people around him laugh and smile. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren… and they loved him back. He is survived by his wife Audrey Jeannine Baxter Brown; his three children: Jolene Nicol, Larry (Kerry) Brown, and Dana (Jim) Gueck; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, three sisters: Vea Jean Hamilton, LuAnn (Don) Green, and Barbara Brown. Preceded in death by both parents; brother Paul Brown; brother-in-law Daro Hamilton, and grandson Michael Gueck. Bob's family takes comfort in knowing that he can now rest from the more recent demands of mortality in a state of peace and happiness, but mourn his passing and this period of separation. They express their heartfelt gratitude for all the support, love, and acts of kindness on behalf of Bob and his family; received from his friends, neighbors, ward members, the caregivers at Lake Ridge Senior Living, the wonderful hospice team, and many others. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018, 11:00 AM, at Cascade Stake Center, 481 East Center Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be Tuesday June 5, 2018, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Walker Sanderson Mortuary, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah and Wednesday, June 6, 2018, 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM prior to the funeral services at the church.
