Robert (Bob) Wayne Ellis passed away peacefully at his home on Friday October 13, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old. He was under care of hospice. He was a resident of Orem, Utah formally of Upland, California.
Bob was born March 1, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to John Emmanual Ellis and Leila Vilate Larsen. He grew up in Los Angeles and was the youngest of three children. He graduated from Manual Arts High School. He served in the Army for 2 years from 1953-1954. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Mexico from 1956-1958. He received his Bachelors degree in history from BYU and his Masters degree in Education Administration from Cal State LA. He worked as a teacher in the high school setting for over 35 years in the Charter Oak School District in Covina, California. He loved teaching and taught mainly History and Spanish. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He married his sweetheart Donna Lee Snyder on Dec. 14, 1962 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He and Donna served 2 missions, first to Dominican Republic/Puerto Rico working with record preservation and the second one to the Bishop Storehouse in Colton California. He was born with a green thumb and was especially proud of his roses and fruit trees.
He is survived by his wife Donna and 7 children. Kirsten Ellis of Orem, Utah, Shauna Kump (Alan) of Idaho Falls, ID, Robert Ellis of Rocklin, CA, Deanne Wooldridge (Perry) of North Salt Lake, UT, Jeffrey Ellis (Diana) of Heber City, UT, Jennifer Broderick (Tyson) of Pleasant Grove, UT, and Matthew Ellis of Ontario, CA and 17 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and his daughter Heather Ellis and 2 infant children, Jacqueline and Michael.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 21 at 11 am at the Canyon View LDS Stake Center at 575 E 800 N in Orem, Utah. The family will meet with friends at a viewing Friday night from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home at 646 E 800 N Orem, Utah and also 1 hour before the services on Saturday. Burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery following the services. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
