Obituary

Robert (Bob) Gene Haag passed away, peacefully at his home, on February 12, 2019. Bob was born on March 22, 1947, the second child, and first boy of Gene Thomas Haag & Nellie Sherma Cobbley Haag. He spent his childhood living in Orem and the Edgemont section of Provo where he had many fond memories. After graduating from Provo High School Bob worked for Reed Tucker & Rudy Vikcinick in their respective service stations- two jobs he loved. In 1967 he began service in the Army Reserve that lasted for 23 years until his retirement in 1990.   He also worked for many years at Allred's Inc. where he began working as a Driver and Salesman, eventually becoming Manager of the Sales Department. Bob enjoyed serving in a variety of callings in the wards in which he lived. Some of his favorite callings were Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, and Ward Clerk. Bob loved sports, organizing an Army Reserve softball team, coaching youth soccer and baseball, and was a huge fan of BYU football. Even in the final years of his life when his health was failing, and it was difficult for him to move around, he rarely missed one of his grandchildren's games. The focus of Bob's life was always his family. He married Denise Wiley on April 3, 1970 and was later sealed to her in the Provo LDS Temple. During their 49 years of marriage Bob and Denise had 5 children, and 8 grandchildren. Bob's happiest times were spent with his family hosting "mandatory" camp outs, barbeques in the back yard and helping them learn skills. Bob is survived by his wife Denise Wiley Haag of Orem, five children: Tiffany (Damon) Swenson of Springville, Cheridy Roeger of Orem, Ryan (Missy) Haag of Orem, Wyatt Haag of Clearfield, and Tori (Jon) Peay of Lehi, as well as 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gaylen (Leona) Haag, and two sisters, Roseanne (Cardell) Jacobson and Melody (Robert) Munson. He also leaves behind many friends who will deeply miss him. He is preceded in death by his father and mother. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019, 11:00 a.m., Suncrest 9th Ward, 140 North 400 West, Orem. Family and friends may visit at the church, Thursday, February 21, 2019, 6:00-8:00 p.m. or Friday, February 22, 2019, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem. Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 72. Memories may be shared, and condolences offered to the family online at www.walkersanderson.com.
