IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert George
Heringer
May 13, 1935 – March 23, 2023
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Robert George Heringer passed away March 23, 2023. It was a Thursday and Thursdays were always dedicated to fishing for many, many years. He was born May 13, 1935 to Martin George and Edith Edinger Heringer in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the oldest of three children. Throughout his childhood he lived in Vivian Park and Provo, Utah. He graduated from Provo High School in 1953. He met and married Evalyn Pomel on May 18, 1956, they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home and raised their family in Orem, Utah.
He was a jack of all trades, there wasn't anything he couldn't do or fix. He was a Millwright at Geneva Steel, a mechanic for Tour West and opened Heringer Marine in 1970 where he was later joined by his son Clark. He was a member of the Orem Rotary Club and the Utah Valley Woodworkers. He has many first place ribbons and best of show from his entries to their shows. He retired from the boat store in 1996 if you could call the many, many creations and projects that he spent endless hours on"retirement." He loved camping and was an avid fisherman. He spent many enjoyable hours at his easel with his oil paintings but his main love was woodwork and wood carving. His creations are incredible from the littlest wagon wheel with toothpick spokes to his beautiful inlaid tables.. He made and installed the kitchen cabinets in his home. He turned numerous bowls from many species of wood, his carvings are intricate and he has created many unique characters. He was always always "tinkering".
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held several callings including Elders Quorum President, Young Mens Adviser, Ward Clerk and was in the Bishopric. He served a service mission at Deseret Industries in Provo, Utah with his wife Evalyn. He touched many people.
Family was important to him, he loved and spoiled his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many backyard barbecues and parties in his beautiful backyard.
Robert is survived by his wife Evalyn Orem, Utah, daughter Vickie Heringer St. George, son Clark George (Julene) Heringer Orem, Utah, daughters Annette (Kelly) Strebel Sandy, Utah, Leslie (Bruce) Christensen Highland, Utah, 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He is preceded by his parents, siblings Jerald Heringer and Georgia Clements and son-in-law Kelly Strebel.
The Heringer family would like to thank Utah Home Health and Hospice, Keri, Sarah and Bob for their loving care of Robert.
There will be a viewing Monday March 27, 2023 from 6 to 8 at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home 646 E 800 N Orem, Utah. A Graveside Service will be Tuesday March 28, 2023 at 11 am in the Orem City Cemetery.
