Robert Brunt Lewis
Aug 21, 1949 - Dec 4, 2020
Robert (Bob) Lewis, loving and beloved husband, father, brother, son, and mentor died suddenly from a heart attack Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. He was 71 years old.
Bob was born in Burbank, California to Bert and Melba Lewis. Bob was the 3rd child and beloved brother to Fred (Gayle) Lewis, Jane (Roger) Cannon, Tim (Sheryl) Lewis, Eileen Lewis, and Rachel Duwyenie Elthie. Bob attended North Hollywood High School and Brigham Young University.
Bob had many talents and interests. He immersed himself in technology, classic literature, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was an engineer, a poet, and a disciple. He could turn a screw or a phrase or to chapter and verse. These abilities provided for his family, gave richness to his expression, and inspired love for the people around him.
Bob lived a life of service. He served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the country of New Zealand. The experiences he had there influenced him all his life. This influence took specific form every Christmas when he would prepare the cultural confection, Pavlova. He continued to serve as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ all his life. He was a counselor, a mentor to the youth, and an impressively reliable home teacher. The families he served knew him to be a gregarious and loving friend. Bob was truly the neighbor of Christ's definition. He was a friend to the poor. He cared for the widowed. He ministered to those in need.
While attending Brigham Young University, Bob met and fell deeply in love with Jill Conger. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on July 26, 1972. They have loved each other and been best friends ever since. Jill is quoted as saying, "He is the best husband there ever was". There are many observers to the validity of this statement.
Bob is survived by his wife Renza Jill Conger, his children Becca Jane Waite (Aaron), Bert Lewis (Angie), Dan Lewis (Linda), and favorite child Brittany Lewis. He has 9 grandchildren: Allison (Bradin), Michael, JaneClaire, Ethan, Jared, Landon, Bronson, Eden, and Brooklyn. He has 1 great granddaughter, Henley (Allison & Bradin).
Bob will be interred in the City of Orem Cemetery. A viewing for all friends and family of Bob & Jill Lewis will be held on Thursday evening, Dec. 10th, from 6pm to 8pm at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home 646 E 800 N, Orem, UT.
