Robert (Bob) J. Petersen, born June 16th, 1955 in Provo Utah to LeRoy and Carolyn (Jarvis) Petersen, passed away at his Orem home on July 22nd, 2026 nine months after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. 

Bob graduated from Provo High School before going to "Trade Tech" (now UVU) and becoming a lifelong carpenter. He always took pride in his work, eventually becoming an interior finish superintendent for Okland Construction for 30 years where his attention to detail and perfectionist tendencies were real assets. He worked on many buildings he was proud of (Adobe, Cabela’s, Mountain America Credit Union HQ, Oquirrh Mountain Temple, and many more). 

As a boy, Bob loved riding his bike and could often be found popping wheelies around the neighborhood—a skill he later carried over to his motorcycle as a teenager. Throughout his life, he enjoyed recreational vehicles of all kinds, including motorcycles, scooters, four-wheelers, and boats. 

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. He really enjoyed tying jigs. They were pieces of art that he took real pride in. He took great joy in sharing both his jigs, and fishing knowledge with others. He also loved camping with his family and spending time in the outdoors he cherished. 

Bob enjoyed golfing, especially with his boys. He was always proud of winning his division at the Art City Amateur in 1982. 

Bob’s few watercolor paintings he did showed what an artist and eye he had for nature. 

Bob was extremely organized, which showed in his work. He had checklists for everything he did: work checklists, camping checklists, health checklists. He was happy when he created a to-do and checked off an item. 

Once his grandchildren were born, they were a new light in his life. He would always spend time drawing with them and spoiling them as often as he could. 

He leaves behind friends and family who are better people because of his love, knowledge, and help. He will be incredibly missed. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, and is survived by his wife of 45 years Holly (Hudman), his three sons Branick (Brittany), Kyle (Krystal), and Colton (Desiree), and his grandchildren Layla, Avalee, Annette, Carisma, and Mia. He is also survived by his two sisters, Diane (Kent) Huff, and Kaye (Tom) Christensen. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 8th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem. There will be a private graveside service in the morning.
