Roberta Neilson De Mik age 94, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on July 5, 2017 in Provo, Utah of natural causes. Roberta was born April 17, 1923 in St. George, Utah to John Taylor Neilson and Ella Barlocher Neilson. She attended school in St. George and graduated from Dixie High School in 1942. She then moved to Los Angeles, California where she worked at several companies including Douglas Aircraft and Trans World Airlines (TWA) as a stewardess for the duration of World War II. She married William G. De Mik III in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1946. They were married for 49 years before he passed away. Roberta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a mission in the St. George Visitor's Center. She also worked at the MTC for eight years and served in the Provo Temple for 13 years. She lovingly volunteered many hours of compassionate service to the hospice organization. Her passions included genealogy, caring for her yard, reading good books, and skiing. She had a talent for creative writing and was published in Hearts Shall Turn in 1996. She also enjoyed being involved in her community. She was a member of Toastmasters International--Utah Valley and the Provo Literary Club. Roberta never stopped growing, learning, and seeking new adventures. She even swam with stingrays off the Cayman Islands to mark her 90th birthday. She is survived by her three children: Gregory De Mik (Lindon, UT), Roxanne De Mik (San Diego, CA), Kevin De Mik (Palm Springs, CA), and three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Anna Tietjen (St. George, UT) and her brothers LeGrand Neilson (St. George, UT) and Clayton Neilson (Washington, UT). Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10th at 11:00 a.m. at 2950 N. Canyon Road. A viewing will be held on Sunday July 9th, 6 to 8pm at Walker Sanderson Mortuary 646 E 800 N, Orem and the following day at the LDS chapel 2950 N Canyon Rd. (350 E), Provo 10am until 10:45. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery (4800 N. 650E.). Arrangements entrusted to the care of Walker Mortuary.
