Roland Emery McCarthy, 83, graduated from this life peacefully on the morning of Monday, November 26, 2018 in Orem, Utah. He was the oldest of four children and was born in Durango, Colorado on March 10th, 1935 to Harry Emery McCarthy and Emma Faye Aiken. He was employed at Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) as an electrical engineer in San Francisco, California starting in 1965 and retired in 1993 when he was 58. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and avid reader of the Book of Mormon. He is survived by his dear wife Albertine Mary McCarthy of Orem, UT and his three children Dennis Michael McCarthy, Erin Kay (McCarthy) Turgano and Steven Scott McCarthy of Cameron Park, CA. He is also survived by his two step-children Brenda Phyllis Holtom (Peter) of Draper, UT and Gregory Philip Gordon (Callie Jo) of Pleasant Grove, UT. His step son Geoffrey Carl Gordon preceded him in death. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michelle Ann Marie (McCarthy) Fader, Justin Patrick McCarthy, Shannon Paige McCarthy, Ryan Wesley Holtom, Lauren Ann (Holtom) Bassett, Tanner Burgess Holtom, Benjamin Geoffrey Gordon, Megan Ann Gordon, Sarah Elizabeth Gordon, Isaac Lee Gordon, and Joshua Wesley Gordon. His great grandchildren are Castiel Carter Sirben and Wyatt Peter Bassett. Memorial services for Roland Emery McCarthy will be held at 11:00am, Friday November 30, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel at 762 East 1200 North, Orem, UT 84097. A viewing will be held on the same day and location from 10:00am – 10:45am. The interment will be held at the Orem City Cemetery 1520 N 800 E, Orem, UT 84097.
