Ronald Lunt Liston

April 16, 1947- February 15, 2024

Ronald Lunt Liston of Springville, Utah passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024. He was born to Harell Bimson and Leona (Lunt) Liston on April 16, 1947, in Spanish Fork, Utah. He was raised in Springville, Utah. He married Lola Dawn Pyne on August 21, 1969. They raised their five children in Orem, Utah.

Ron received a bachelor's degree from BYU and a master's degree from the University of Utah in Social Work. Ron spent the first part of his career as a social worker at the American Fork Training School. In 1988 Ron began his career with Intermountain Health Care (IHC) as the first Director of Rehabilitation Services at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center (UVRMC). Throughout his career with IHC Ron also managed the Dialysis unit, opened a Pediatric Rehabilitation Center at Orem Community Hospital (OCH), and a Sports Medicine program at UVRMC. In 2006, Ron became the Administrator of OCH and Operations Officer over surgical services in all three IHC Hospitals in Utah County. He retired in March 2011 to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Ron dedicated much of his life to his Church. He served faithfully in many callings including as a bishop in a home and BYU ward, a counselor in a Stake Presidency, Scout Master, and Branch President at the Mission Training Center (MTC). He was also a dedicated Home Teacher and Minister. He served two full time missions. First as a young elder in the Western Canadian Mission and later in life with his sweetheart serving as the office couple in the Taiwan Taichung Mission. Ron lived by the motto "If you take care of the Lord, He will take care of you."

Ron loved the outdoors for its beauty and the fun, exercise, and relaxation it provided. He loved camping. hiking, backpacking, and skiing. He especially loved road biking and mountain biking with his family and many good friends.

Ron dedicated his life to his family. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lola Dawn (Pyne) Liston, his parents, Harell and Leona (Lunt) Liston, his granddaughter Madilyn Liston, and his brother William Lunt Liston. He is survived by his children Julie (Adam) Taylor, Kristine (Riley) Wilson, Brea (Brenden) Jensen, Eric (Alisa) Liston and Andrew (Missy) Liston, 16 grandchildren; Jackson and Dawson Taylor, DJ, Naomi (Ruf), Samantha and Lydia Wilson, Connor, Jaron and Logan Jensen, Landon, Chayse, Karson, and Cooper Liston and Kaitlyn, William, and Emmalyn Liston, his two siblings Robert Liston and Cherylon Parsons and their families.

A viewing will be held in his honor on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Walker Sanderson Funeral located at 646 E. 800 N. Orem, Utah 84097 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 1035 S. 800 E. Orem, Utah 84097. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Orem City Cemetery following the service.
