Rose Ann Martinez was born on July 25, 1931 to Beatrice Padilla and Roberto Alirez in Ignacio, Colorado. After a long battle with medical issues, Rose went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Rose was raised by her grandparents on their family farm with a very strict upbringing which is also how she raised her children. Rose was the oldest of 11 children.
Rose met the love of her life when her cousin convinced her to talk to the handsome young man who whistled at her. After meeting at a post office, Rose and Johnny went to the café to drink a pop and fell in love. Rose and Johnny were married by the justice of the peace on August 10, 1948 and renewed their vows in the Roman Catholic church on January 23, 1964. Rose and Johnny were married 73 years and shared their lives together for almost 74 years.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she helped raise 4 generations of children. Rose was very proud of all her children and grandchildren, she loved them fiercely, each were her favorite when in her presence.
Rose was a devout Catholic, she prayed her rosary daily and prayed for everyone she loved, she always made sure you knew she was praying for you and anything that you needed.
Everyone who came to visit Rose, knew what an amazing hostess she was, she loved to cook and anyone who was in her home received a meal and left with a full belly. Rose always made sure her guests were cared for. Her favorite food was tacos, beans and homemade tortillas.
Rose loved spending time in her beautiful yard with the love of her life Johnny, her family and friends. She made sure everyone knew her son Johnny was the one who maintained and cared for the yard. Rose and Johnny were very proud of their yard and received 4 beautification awards from the city of Orem.
Rose was always well dressed and ready to take on the day, her hair was perfect and her makeup was always flawless. She loved flowers especially roses and her favorite color was Fuchsia Pink. She was a serious woman and very set in her ways but she always welcomed everyone and loved you no matter what!
Rose is survived by her loving husband Johnny, her children: Dorothy (John), Elaine (Kent), Frank (Kathy), Johnny (Perry), daughter in law Ida, 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 1 brother, many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, many siblings, her son Christopher Martinez, her grandson Anthony Martinez, grandson Adam Ostmark, and great-granddaughter Abigail Thorne

Services will be held on Monday July 26, 2021 , 1:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N. Orem UT, 84097 If you are sick or unable to attend in person please services may be viewed at www.walkersanderson.com. Family and friends visitation– 11:45 am – 12:45 pm prior to services.
