Ruby Hartvigsen Wilson, 97, passed away March 15, 2019 in American Fork, Utah. She was born June 22, 1921 in Downey, Idaho, to Ellen Amelia Eilertsen and Joakim Ferdinand Hartvigsen, both emigrants from Norway who met and married in Idaho. Ruby, proud of her Norwegian heritage, was the youngest of 9 siblings along with her twin brother Reed, and she was also the last surviving sibling. Growing up on their Idaho farm she learned to work hard doing everything from making bread for the farm workers to growing berries. She attended Utah State University, and then worked at the Ogden Defense Depot during World War II. Ruby married Robert Folsom Wilson on July 26, 1946. They had 6 children: Barbara Wilson, Ron Wilson (Connie Worthington), Ralph Wilson, Roger Wilson, Elaine Rydalch (Brett Rydalch) and Diane Hoffer (Berkley Hoffer). Bob's work took the family from Utah to Colorado, Texas, and back. Ruby and Bob also loved to travel and visited many interesting places. Ruby was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints serving with Bob as missionaries in Boston, Massachusetts (1986-87), and as workers in the Salt Lake Temple. Ruby was a loving person not only to her family but to all she met telling everyone they were special and wonderful. Even the nurses commented up to the last day that they loved her because she was so nice and loving to them. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland Ward, 11162 North Alpine Highway (5300 West), Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will occur after the funeral services at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
