Ruth
Olsen
April 28, 1924 – January 25, 2024
Our loving Mother and grandmother, Ruth Mildred Camp Olsen passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Orem, Utah. Ruth was born April 28, 1924 in a farmhouse in Apolacon Township Pennsylvania. She married Dean Lamar Olsen August 21, 1948 in Vineyard, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Together they had five sons, Reginald Dean (Rosemarie), Dennis Lamar (Elaine), Douglas Roger (Carma), Jeffery Lynn (Shauna), and Kevin John (June). Ruth and Dean have 20 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Primary worker, worked in the extraction program and was a visiting teacher for over 60 years. She and Dad served a mission in Jackson, Mississippi.
Mom attended nursing school at the start of WWII at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA and became a Registered Nurse. The war ended as she graduated so she worked as a nurse in several different hospitals across the USA. Her final stop was at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, where she met dad.
Mom was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was everything to her. She hosted many wonderful Christmas parties, Thanksgiving dinners, barbecues and family get togethers, making each one special with her loving touch. She loved working in the garden, taking care of her beautiful roses, cooking and experimenting with new recipes, canning, doing needlework and one year made a beautiful needlework gingerbread house for many of us. Mom loved a cold Diet Coke, and going to yard sales. She made friends easily and had may wonderful friendships throughout her life.
Mom had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She spent her whole life serving others. We will miss you deeply mom and are so grateful for the knowledge that we will be reunited with you again someday.
