IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ryan Christopher
Cole
December 29, 1985 – September 23, 2022
The family of Ryan Cole, 36, of Provo, is saddened to announce that he passed away in a 4-wheeler accident on September 23rd, 2022.
Ryan was born December 29th, 1985, to John and Sandra (Tucker) Cole, in Phoenix, Arizona. However, he grew up in New Hampshire with his parents and seven siblings. After graduating high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Carlsbad, California. Upon completion of his mission, he briefly returned home before moving out to Utah. It was in Provo that he met his wife, Haley Sanderson, and they were married August 15th, 2009 in the Oakland Temple, just 3 months after they started dating. In the thirteen years that would follow, Ryan worked as a journeyman electrician- ultimately ending up at Utah Valley University- and he and Haley welcomed four sweet children into the world.
Ryan loved his family, and put them as the highest priority in his life. He loved playing with his children, and their home was filled with giggles and squeals of glee as he wrestled with them, chased them, and read books in silly voices. His greatest joy was coming home every day to see his children run to his truck, arms outstretched to hug him. With a chatty kid hanging on each of his strong arms, he would kiss his wife and do what he could to help get dinner on the table. All these everyday memories have become so very precious with his passing.
Ryan was a natural problem-solver and helper. As an electrician, he was quick to help neighbors and friends with various small electrical problems in their home. He was gifted in his ability to tinker, and was able to serve his family through home improvements, car repairs, and fixing broken toys. He was grateful for these opportunities, even if a few frustrated phrases were muttered under his breath as a bolt wouldn't come off or he had to make yet another trip to Home Depot. He was the type that looked for the small and simple ways he could serve others.
He also knew the importance of faithfully serving in his church callings. Over the years he served in various capacities, including working with the youth, elder's quorum, and most recently, as a counselor in the bishopric. He would joke that the Lord had more faith in him than he did in himself. However, everyone else could see his Christlike love and dedication to magnifying the callings as they came.
Although Ryan never considered himself a creative type, he thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, and would get inspired to create wooden toys and "whimsies." His family will always remember his detailed explanations of how he made a whimsy, the problems that came up as he carved it, and - because he was a perfectionist- all the imperfections only he could see. The woodcarving tools on his workbench will be a happy reminder of all the love he poured into his creations, both for his children and friends.
Ryan is survived by his wife Haley, and their four children Elsie, Emmett, Hattie, and Rosie. He is also survived by his parents John and Sandra Cole, and his siblings Lindsay Madsen (Steve), Devin, Emily, Weston, Braden, Tracey Connell (Jake), and Nathan.
