IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel Lewis
Mcbee
June 20, 1935 – December 4, 2023
Samuel Lewis McBee, Jr, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great, & great-great-grandfather passed away on Monday, December 04, 2023, 10:24 pm, at the age of 88 years old. He passed in his home in Orem, Utah, beside his sweetheart of 67 years, Sondra McBee.
Sam was born in Ensley, AL on June 20, 1935 to Samuel & Gay Nell McBee. He was the oldest of 2 brothers and 2 sisters and loved his siblings. He played sports in High School but found his first love of art early in life & after High School attended the Art Students League in NY city. This was the beginning of a long art career that included innumerable Art shows, Awards, & touching people's lives with the beauty he could create.
Sam's talent carried him into his career as a Commercial Artist, working for Hayes Aircraft, Boeing, & Rand McNally. His zest for art was no comparison for the love he had for his family. Sam was the father of 9 children, 3 boys and 6 girls, with never a dull moment to be had. He was the provider of his family. Strong in value & character, but tender-hearted, always teaching his sons & tenderly loving his daughters. He was a hands-on father, husband, & friend, furiously defending all he loved.
Sam spent many years dedicated in service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Over the years, serving on the councils of the Church, including 5 Bishoprics and once as Bishop, as well as serving a full time mission. His love for His Savior was evident by his service to others, never discriminating. Any person in need was who he served
Sam also loved Alabama Football (Roll tide), Formula One, Pimento sandwiches, Little Debbie's, & music, but nothing on the earth compared to the love he had for his wife. In the eb & flow of their 67 year marriage, they remained side by side & hand in hand.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry McBee, and his beloved sisters, Mary Nell and Cheryl. He is is survived by his wife, Sondra Dale McBee, and his children, Samuel Lewis McBee III, Selena Kay Hartzog, Amethia Dennell Martin, Catherine Ann Peterson, William Lecile McBee, Jennifer Lynne Morgan, Rebecca Diane Sikes, Elizabeth Gay Kuhni, and Paul Spencer McBee, with 25 grand children, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson, and his brother Thomas Wayne McBee
Until we're all together again, he'll be missed.
