IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharleen Rose
Smoot
October 5, 1933 – January 4, 2024
Our mother, grandmother, and sister, Sharleen Rose Peacock Smoot returned home to her Heavenly Father on January 4, 2024. She died in Orem, Utah, peacefully surrounded by her children.
She began life in Orem on October 5, 1933, born to Lloyd and Gertrude Burdick Peacock. She married the great love of her life, Max Eugene (Mike) Smoot and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They were together for 50 years on earth and now will be together in eternity. Their love for each other was inspiring, with each of them going the extra mile to make the other comfortable and happy. She was looking forward to seeing him again after nearly 20 years apart.
Sharleen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved working with the Young Women. She also loved her calling with Mike at the Church Conference Center in Salt Lake City as Church Service Missionaries.
Sharleen is survived by her three children, Michael (Carla) Smoot of Draper, UT; Steven (Linda) Smoot of Washington, UT; and Heidi (Dan) Laing of Orem, UT; also, thirteen grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ted (Cynthia) Peacock of Lehi.
Sharleen is preceded in death by her husband Mike, her parents, five siblings - Vernona Peacock, Lamar Peacock, June Larson, Beverly Hanson, Barbara Schiro and a granddaughter, Danielle Smoot.
Sharleen had the gift of friendship. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and they would become friends. She enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in the lobby of Covington Senior Living, where she resided for the past 5 years. From her chair by the fire, she talked and joked with all her friends walking by. Laughter surrounded her because she always had a funny story to tell and a witty answer.
Sharleen's talent was a homemaker. Her home was always lovingly maintained: clean, organized, and beautifully decorated. She always had meals ready for her husband and children and was a wonderful cook.
Sharleen was an Oremite, born and bred. She lived in Bountiful while her sons were raised and then moved back to Orem. Listening to her made Orem feel like a small town. She knew so many people. She was the proud recipient of the first Miss Orem Crown (1949).
Funeral services will be Friday, January 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lindon 17th Ward Meetinghouse, located at 1051 East 200 South, Lindon, Utah, 84062. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A webcast of the funeral services will be available at www.walkersanderson.com. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
Thanks, Mom, for your love and laughter. We love you and will miss you.
We are thankful for the kind words and love shown to her. Now someone else will have a chance to win at Bingo. A special thanks to Renew Hospice for the care and love provided.
