Obituary

*Sharlene Marie Brown Rutland Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Friend 2 February 1963 – 9 June 2020 Sharlene Marie Brown Rutland, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at home in Draper, Utah on Tuesday, 9 June 2020. She battled brain cancer for 2 years and is now peaceful without those complications. Sharlene was born on Travis Air Force Base by Fairfield, California. She grew up mostly in Renton and Kent Washington. After graduating from Kentridge High School in 1991, she attended BYU in Provo, Utah where she met Eric Lynn Rutland, fell madly in love and they were married 27 December 1988 in the Seattle, Washington Temple. Places they have lived included, Provo, Utah, Hyde Park, Utah, Lindon, Utah, Eagle, Idaho and Draper, Utah. Sharlene's younger siblings will tell you she acted like their mother which they didn't appreciate. But Sharlene was just practicing for when she became a mother herself. She always dreamed of being a mother. She was a grand and loving mother and raised her children well. Sharlene set a wonderful legacy for her family to carry on for her. She commented that since she can't play with all of her grandchildren here, she will certainly be talking with them and kiss each of them as they come down to earth. Sharlene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many ways in the church. She mostly loved working with the youth. When the Meridian Idaho Temple opened November 2017 Sharlene volunteered to work there in the office. She did a great service for them, even after she was diagnosed with cancer. She was well loved by her fellow workers. Sharlene had an amazing ability and talent with artistic projects. She loved to cook, sew, make crafts and her house was always decorated special for every season of the year. She loved to camp, boat, and travel to Hawaii. Her favorite hobby was her children. Sharlene was preceded in death by her father, Niel Marshal Brown, and her brother, Michael Niel Brown. She is survived by her husband, Eric Lynn Rutland, brothers, Mark Brown (Summer), Christopher Brown (Leslie), sister, Shauna Soria (Kevin), daughters, Kristy Rampton (John), Kayla Dawson (Michael), Rianne Levasseur (Richie), Sydney Rutland, son's Deion Rutland (Marissa), Bryce Rutland (Nicole).
