Obituary

Sharon Christensen Burr, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on December 30, 1937, in Delta, Utah, to Alma Jay and Donna Colby Christensen, she was the oldest of four children. She loved her brothers, Darwin and Keith, and baby sister Cher greatly. She enjoyed living in Delta and later Milford, Utah, surrounded by grandparents and extended family. She loved reading, a life-long hobby, and spent time at the Milford City Library, and reading outside at home in the yard. Sharon graduated from Milford High in 1956.

Sharon moved to Richfield, Utah, in 1957, where she met friends and enjoyed working various jobs. While living in Richfield, she met Douglas Burr, from Marysvale, Utah, at a mutual friend’s house. They were married on April 14, 1961. They started their life and family in Richfield, where they welcomed Annette, Janet, and Craig. Family was and is everything to Sharon. In the summer of 1967, the family moved to Orem. They moved to their permanent family home in 1969, where Sharon lived for 55 wonderful years among close friends, neighbors, and ward members. Their youngest daughter, Michelle, completed the family.

Sharon was a devoted wife and mother, a wonderful homemaker and friend. She spent her life serving her family, and especially loved caring for her grandchildren. Sharon had her fair share of health issues throughout her life, breast cancer survivor, Type 2 Diabetes which resulted in a below the knee amputation, and other surgeries. She never complained and was an example of resiliency and faith through it all. After 34 years of running the home, Sharon decided she wanted to get a job. She worked at Timp Bookstore and cherished those years there and the friendships she made. Later, she found the Silver Sneaker club at the Orem Rec Center. She loved exercising and the many friends she made there.

With Doug’s health declining, she lovingly and patiently cared for him for many years. After Doug passed in 2007, Sharon was worried about what she was going to do with her time. Her sister, Cher, and husband, Dennis, told her to get a passport and Sharon became a world traveler at the age of 69. She was extremely grateful for Cher and Dennis and providing those special and unique experiences that she thought were never possible.

Sharon was a true disciple of Jesus Christ, she loved the gospel, and had a close relationship with her Heavenly Father. Through the many difficult challenges she faced, she sought comfort from her Savior, through prayer and never wavered from her faith.

Sharon is survived by her children, Annette Louder (Greg), Janet Henrie (Richard), Craig (Jennifer), and Michelle Cochran (Corey); 15 beloved grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, with one more arriving in March; her brother, Darwin Christensen, and sister, Cher Zobell. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Keith Christensen; and her husband, Doug.
