Lola Sharon Richman, age 90, passed away at the Summerfield Retirement home in Orem, Utah on Aug 22nd at 5:08 pm, surrounded by family members.

Lola Sharon Holt was born on Dec. 19, 1935, to William Samuel Holt and Lona Littledike Holt in Trenton, Utah. Sam and Lona welcomed their 2nd child. Sharon’s older brother, Ralph was 2 ½ years old.

During her early years, Sharon lived on a farm, all dry farm, with most of it in Clarkston, Utah a few miles away. They had some farm animals: horses, chickens, and family pets. She had a happy childhood with good friends, good health and a good family life.

Sharon attended North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah, where she was in the pep club and senior representative. When she was a senior in high school, she was at a basketball game and met LaVar Richman who was in the Marine corp at the time. LaVar and Sharon started dating and had a fun summer going to parties, functions, picnics, and ball games.

In the fall, both LaVar and Sharon entered college at Utah State University. Sharon took several hard classes including Biology and Psychology but managed to take a fencing class for fun. In April of 1955, LaVar asked Sharon to marry him. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on June 16, 1955. They were married almost 68 years, when LaVar passed away in 2023. Sharon and LaVar had loyalty to Utah State and would frequently stand up and sing the fight song while stomping their feet. However, they also had to cheer for another school, after all four kids graduated from BYU.

After college, Dad’s job required several moves with the family throughout the Western states, Nevada, Colorado, Washington with the last move to Orem, Utah where LaVar retired. Sharon had the ability to make friends wherever she went. She has lifelong friends wherever we moved to. She easily remembers names and faces. She could easily remember kids and grandkids birthdays. Whenever Sharon would talk about someone we couldn’t remember, Sharon would say,” don’t you remember them, they were at your wedding reception”

Sharon was involved in the LDS Church her entire life. Her church service including Stake Primary President, Ward Primary President, primary teacher: Young Women President, secretary and teacher. Many of these positions have included responsibilities and opportunities for service in scouting. She was on the district training staff and a district committee member. She received the Second mile award. She was always cheerful in her service, going on hikes, camps, Klondike Derby, Jamborees and Courts of Honor. She was always cheerful in her service. She set an example for the boys by having a good attitude and by always wearing the scout uniform.

Sharon has served her community through school service and politicalservice. Many have been welcomed over the years at voting polls by her smiling face. Sharons life has blessed many.

Sharon loved LaVar, her kids, in laws, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her children; son, Burke (Ann) of Kimberly, Idaho; son, Brian (Andrea) of Centerville, Utah; daughter, RaDawn(Dale) Anderson of Provo, Utah; son, Bart (Leslie) of Orem, Utah; 15 grandchildren, and 23 great children. And many friends and neighbors will hold her in their heart.
