Obituary

Our Mother has passed. In life she was a force. I have described her as the sun at the center of our universe whom the rest of us orbited. Eventually, as daughters do, we became our own suns. Raising us to be strong women was her obsession. So much so, she endeavored to live long past the expiration dates doctors gave us dire warnings of. We were first warned of her impending death for before her 40th birthday. She outlived that imposed deadline and so many others. We were so caught up in mother's life and death struggles that when our father passed, so quickly, it caught us by surprise. Well, everyone but mom. His loss took a part of her with him. I believe we were about as close to losing her then as we ever were before, but she persevered. For us. She eventually remarried a lovely man. A willing stand-in at weddings and a staunch advocate for us. I don't think she could have done better, and he stayed and cared for her until the end. Our love and admiration for him cannot be overstated. More than anything we wish our mother rest. She has finally given herself permission to be without worry or burden.
