Obituary

Shauna Lou Seely Pusey, 79, passed away on 23 July 2021, a victim of Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Salt Lake City on 21 August 1941 to Vaun Camp Seely and Earl Lester Seely. She grew up in Richland, Washington with her younger brother Bill. As a child, Shauna enjoyed summers in Burrville, Utah with her Camp relatives. Shauna graduated from Columbia High School in Richland and Brigham Young University majoring in elementary education. She married John R. Pusey from Washington, D.C. in the Manti temple in 1962. Shauna is the mother of four children: J. Scott (Jenifer Young); Shauna Anne (Thomas Challis); Stephanie Marie (Jeffery Weber); and Sara Nicole (Nathan Morley). She is grandmother of sixteen and has eight great grands so far. She loves them all dearly. Shauna has a beautiful singing voice, and she did solo work as a young girl and teenager. She performed with Opera Workshop at BYU and even sang with the Tabernacle Choir as a BYU student. She was a dorm mother for Felt and Fox Heritage Halls in 1963-64. Shauna spent time as a substitute teacher, mainly at schools her own children attended in Omaha, Nebraska; Austin, Texas; Wiesbaden, Germany; and Orem, Utah. She became an accomplished artist, starting with art lessons in Wiesbaden, Germany. After moving to Orem, she taught art lessons, in her home, for the Alpine School District and for Scera recreation programs. She used the Old Master, oil, watercolor, and pen and ink techniques. She was an active PTA worker and she loved coaching young girls' softball teams. She served as an Election Official and as a hostess for Miss Utah Pageant contestants for a number of years. Shauna is an avid BYU fan and will surely keep cheering on the Cougars. Shauna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She had numerous callings in Relief Society, Young Women and Primary. She taught Seminary in Germany for two years and served as a tour guide on Temple Square. She served as an Ordinance Worker in the Bern Switzerland, Nauvoo Illinois and Provo Utah temples. She served four formal church missions with her husband John: A Humanitarian Services assignment in Madras (Chennai) India, teaching English as a second language; as a historic-site tour guide in Nauvoo, Illinois; as a Mission Office couple in Carlsbad, California; and as a receptionist in the LDS Employment Office in Provo, Utah. Shauna lovingly lived an impressive life of service for her family, her Church, and her community.
