Obituary

Shelly Ann Lund Valentine 12/5/1974-3/9/2022 On March 9, 2022 Shelly Ann Valentine, age 47, passed peacefully from this world surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with colon cancer. Shelly was born to Karl and Jackie Lund on December 5, 1974 in Duchesne County, Utah. As a child Shelly was full of curiosity and adventurous spirit. She was adored for her cheesy smile and dimples. Her role was the peacemaker between her and her four siblings. Shelly would make friends everywhere she went, a gift which continued on into her adult life. As a teen Shelly was a skilled player in volleyball, softball and basketball. In these extracurricular activities she received several awards and recognitions. Shelly spent her days working as a lifeguard at the pool and playing at the lake with friends. She graduated from Duchesne High School in 1993 and went on to attend college at Dixie State. During one summer break she met the love of her life, Crayton Valentine. They dated for several years before marrying in 1998. Shelly was blessed to gain a son, Blaine, whom she loved and adored. Crayton's work led them to Colorado, where they were overjoyed to welcome the birth of their son, Brayton in 2000. Shelly and Crayton later settled in their current home in Eagle Mountain, Utah. In 2003 their family was made complete by the arrival of a daughter, Kaycee. Shelly poured herself into raising her family and making memories in the home they created together. Shelly continued in her vigor for life by attending many concerts, campouts and get-togethers with her family and friends. She had a green thumb and her yard and front porch were admired by many throughout all the seasons. Shelly spread her joyful personality with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. Her love for everyone around her would shine through in the different occupations she held, but most importantly in her time as a para-educator working with special needs children. Her time with her students really was her life's passion. Even after she could no longer work, she continued her relationships with her coworkers, students and their families. In her own family Shelly was a force that strengthened, inspired and uplifted each of them. She spent her life making unforgettable memories with each sister, brother, niece, nephew and friend. She had the ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. When Shelly was suddenly diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018, SHE was the strength that her loved ones needed. She encouraged all of them to continue living their lives as normal, just like she was choosing to do. She never let her diagnosis get in the way of a cornhole tournament, an impromptu road trip or caring for her grandbabies. Even near the end, Shelly cared more about others than herself. She always started each visit with "How are you?" and "How is your family?". Shelly is survived by her husband, Crayton; her children, Blaine (Alayna), Brayton and Kaycee; her grandchildren Hayven, Huddson, and awaited granddaughter; her parents Karl and Kathie Lund and her sisters, Kerrie (Brad) Bollman, Margie (Chris) Peatross, Jenny Fabrizio and sister-in-law Nique Lund. She is adored by many nieces, nephews, step-siblings, in-laws and extended family and friends. Shelly was preceded in death by her mother, Jackie and her brother, Tyler.
