IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sherilyn
Ridenhour
March 11, 1936 – September 24, 2025
Sherilyn Shipp Ridenhour passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the age of 89. Sherry was born on March 11, 1936, to Philip Royal and Dean (Gleave) Shipp in Annabella, Utah.
She attended South Sevier High School, and some of her fondest memories were of her childhood in Joseph, Utah, where she formed lifelong friendships. Sherry attended Brigham Young University (BYU), earning a bachelor's degree in education. She was pursuing her master's degree at BYU when she met her husband, Ted Ridenhour.
For many years, Sherry taught English and writing at BYU and worked at the Orem City Library. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including her most cherished roles as a cultural refinement teacher and gospel doctrine teacher.
After retiring, she served in the Timpanogos Temple. Sherry loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, always looking forward to "Grandma Days" and "Grandma Weeks." A lifelong learner, she enjoyed reading, movies, country western music, quilting, baseball, and cheering for BYU football.
Sherry is survived by her six children: Doug (Maureen) Ridenhour, Deborah (Joseph) Marrott, Jennifer Levitt, Liza (Morri) Toman, Missie Crandall, and Mary (Jeff) Gertino. The joys of her life were her 11 grandchildren—Tyler, Zack, Kylea, Gabrielle, Carter, Alex, Addi, Tuscan, Chloe, Sofia, and Jude—and her two great-grandchildren, Luca and Skylar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Brent Shipp and Royal Shipp.
A graveside service will be held at the Orem Cemetery on Wednesday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. for family and friends. Please join the family that evening for a Celebration of Life between the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Mortuary, 646 E 800 N, Orem, Utah.
