Shirley Faye Brown Glines, 91½ years old (she always included the half), passed away on September 1, 2026, in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She experienced a joyful reunion with her sweetheart, Donald; her daughter, Cynthia; her son, Bradley; and many other beloved family members and friends who had gone before her.

Shirley was born on December 18, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John and Irma Keele Brown. She was the oldest of three children and often shared fond memories of adventures with her two sisters, including dancing, camping, and traveling together. She spent her childhood in the Salt Lake City area and, for a short time, in California.

Shirley attended South High School and later studied at the University of Utah. In her early twenties, she had a chance meeting with a young man she had known from high school, Donald Glines. They quickly fell in love and were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 20, 1958.

Together, Donald and Shirley built a beautiful life and raised eight children while living in several Utah communities, including West Bountiful, Alpine, Moab, Castle Valley, Orem, and Mount Pleasant. Along the way, they shared countless adventures and formed treasured friendships. Many of those friends became like extended family, enriching their lives with love and support.

Shirley's life's work was raising her eight children, who were her greatest joy. As a mother, she instilled in them a deep love of Jesus Christ and His gospel, as well as an appreciation for adventure, nature, music, learning, curiosity, and family. She wanted to do everything right and gave her whole heart to those she loved. Shirley loved the gospel, loved going to the Temple, and serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had many callings including Primary chorister/song leader, Scout Leader, and being a visiting teacher. In 2003 Donald and Shirley served a mission in Adelaide, Australia. They were anxiously engaged in serving the people and loved their time there.

Her enthusiasm for life was inspiring. She found joy in the simplest things and taught others to do the same. She was a lifelong learner and often spoke proudly of earning her bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University as a grandmother. When some younger students told her she was "too old to learn," she refused to let their opinions define her. She never allowed the limits others tried to place on her to stop her; instead, she used them as fuel.

Shirley will be remembered for her faith, determination, optimism, sense of adventure, and unwavering love for her family. Her example continues to inspire generations who were blessed to know her.

Shirley is survived by her children, son-in-law, Arthur Colegrove, Sylvia Robison (Eric), Gregory Glines (Sheri), Ruth Ann Ivie (Robert), Colleen Guymon (Paul), Kamille Glines, Kevin Glines (Denise) and her daughter-in-law, Erin West; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; her sister, Brenda Gordon; her brother-in-law, David Glines; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Glines; her parents, John and Irma Brown; her daughter, Cynthia Colegrove; her son, Bradley Glines; granddaughter, Karla Glines; and her sister, Dinah Lee Brown.

The family would like to thank the caregivers that so graciously attended to our mom/grandma during her last months from First Choice Hospice and River Pointe assisted living.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Orem Sunset Crest 9th Ward, 891 West 130 North, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah, and on Friday morning prior to the services at the Sunset Crest 9th Ward from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.
