Sonia A. Harris Our beloved mother, Sonia A. Harris passed away at her home on January 16, 2022 at the age of 89. Sonia was born to Alfred and Elfrida Sorensen on January 27, 1932 in Narvik, Norway. At the age of 19 she immigrated to the United States with her parents. Sonia met her true love, John B. Harris and they were married on January 2, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. John and Sonia had five children that they cared for and raised. Sonia and John loved to travel and they visited many parts of the world. When it was possible, they took the whole family with them on their trips, which provided their children with rich cultural and educational experiences. Sonia was dedicated to her family and focused on raising her children and providing a good home. She was also a professional seamstress who designed and made children's clothing. Sonia, with her husband John, served a Temple Mission in Stockholm, Sweden. They served in the Temple Presidency and Sonia was a Temple Matron while in Stockholm. When they returned home from their Mission, Sonia served as an Ordinance Worker in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples for several years. Sonia was very active until her health declined over the past few years. She has now joined her Husband, John B. Harris, her parents, Alfred and Elfrida Sorensen, her siblings, Karl Sorensen, Karin Ivarsen and Ernst Sorensen, her daughter, Randi Lytle, and her Granddaughter, Melissa Harris. Sonia is survived by four of her children, John (Lisbeth) Harris, Ashley Harris, Cecily (James) Stott and Margaret (Gary) Keener. Also by 13 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on January 27, 2022 at 11:00am at the Suncrest 2nd Ward Chapel, located at 140 North 400 West Orem, Utah. The viewing will be held before the service from 9:45-10:45am.
