On May 9th, 2026 Stephen Hammond Field of Sundance Utah and Tucson, Arizona passed away from lung cancer at the age of 72. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. and Frances K. Field, and his brother Charles D. Field, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Francesca K. Field as well as friends from all over the country and abroad.

Stephen was a charismatic, yet shy man. He was quite witty and loved to tell stories. If you got an eye roll then you knew he either did not agree, or enjoyed, what you just said. If you got a wink or a big smile, you were included. He enjoyed hosting parties yet also enjoyed nothing better than a day home alone reading his books, listening to Frank Sinatra, sitting by the pool, or looking out at the aspen trees.

He surrounded himself with golden retrievers, books, and classic cars. He loved reading about history, theater, all types of classic authors, acting and directing movies (with Robert Redford topping his list). He loved the outdoors and was a skier, golfer and tennis player. But most of all he loved talking with his friends.

 A celebration of his life will be held privately.
