IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Summer Tatiana
Mckell
November 25, 1994 – December 30, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Summer Tatiana Roney on Monday, December 30, 2024, who was taken from us far too soon at the age of 30. Born in Perm, Russia, November 25, 1994, Summer was adopted as a young child by her beloved mother, Nedra Dee Roney, and raised alongside her siblings in various parts of the world, including Malibu, California; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Kapalua, Maui; and Springville, Utah.
Summer received her education through homeschooling and private school before attending Hobble Creek Canyon Elementary, Mapleton Junior High, and Maple Mountain High School. She graduated with a high school diploma from Weber Basin Job Corps.
Summer lived her adult life in Draper and South Jordan, Utah, where she worked most recently at Harmons, forming close bonds with coworkers she considered her second family. Previously, she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where her kindhearted and nurturing nature shone brightly.
Summer was a fearless adventurer, a talented snowboarder, wakeboarder, and daredevil who loved cliff diving and skateboarding. Though dainty at 4'11" and just under 100 pounds, she was mighty in spirit, with a contagious laugh, an unforgettable smile, and a fiery determination. Known for her self-described moniker, "Summer Roney, the one and only," she lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
She was a deeply sentimental and loyal person who saw beauty in the small things and cherished her connections with friends and family. Summer's personality was infectious—funny, silly, unapologetically herself, and always putting others at ease. She was a collector of people, maintaining lifelong connections with everyone she met, whether through a quick text, a random social media message, or a heartfelt phone call.
Summer was predeceased by her mother, Nedra Dee Roney McKell, and her sister, Tarah Jean Roney Smith. She is survived by her siblings, Landon Roney, Cheyenne Newberry, Brooke Roney, River Roney, Coral McKell, Winter McKell, and Michelle Tischner, as well as numerous adoring nieces and nephews who she adored and who will miss her dearly.
Summer's favorite color was yellow, and she often reminded those around her of a shining sun—radiant, warm, and impossible to forget. Her light continues to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home (646 E. 800 N., Orem, UT 84097) on January 9th, Thursday, at 10 am. A short graveside service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery thereafter. In honor of Summer, we encourage you to spread kindness and love, just as she did every day of her life.
